OptiTex PDS 2D/3D is a professional CAD software system for garment pattern design and development. It enables digital pattern construction, garment size development, and 3D virtual prototyping within a single integrated digital platform. Changes made to a pattern in 2D can be immediately reflected on the 3D garment model, allowing for rapid evaluation of fit, construction, and design.
The 2D module is intended for digital pattern construction and grading, as well as for preparing patterns for marker making and production planning.
The 3D module enables virtual garment simulation on a digital 3D body model. Its key functions include:
- realistic simulation of fabric drape and material behaviour,
- evaluation of garment fit on a virtual avatar,
- real-time visualisation of design and construction solutions,
- creation of virtual prototypes in different sizes.
Such simulation allows designers and pattern makers to assess the appearance and functionality of a garment before producing a physical prototype.
OptiTex Avatar Editor is a software tool within the 3D module designed for creating, editing, and customising digital 3D body models (avatars) used in virtual garment prototyping.
Its key functions include:
- creating and adjusting body models for different sizes,
- modifying body morphology (morphs) and body measurements,
- defining the avatar’s pose and position,
- adding or editing textures, colours, and materials,
- preparing avatars for garment simulation in a 3D environment.
Optitex Marker is a module of the Optitex PDS software designed for the optimal arrangement of pattern pieces on textile material prior to the cutting process. The software enables the digital creation of markers, meaning the placement of all pattern pieces for a particular garment style or size range onto a simulated fabric surface. During this process, the user takes into account the fabric grain direction, material symmetry, pattern matching, and other construction requirements that affect the correct placement of pattern pieces. The system supports both manual and automatic marker making and provides precise calculations of material consumption. By optimising pattern placement, Optitex Marker improves production efficiency and helps reduce textile waste.
The Prototype and Project Studio is designed for the design, planning, pattern cutting, production, and testing of garment prototypes and other textile products. It is used to evaluate design and construction solutions in relation to the properties of textile materials and manufacturing technologies, as well as to assess garment fit. This enables the development, evaluation, and optimisation of garment solutions during the prototyping stage.
The studio includes the following equipment:
- Dürkopp Adler 271 and Jukey JL-1987-A lockstitch sewing machines, a Jukey GT-900B-4/EUT 4-thread overlock machine, and a Pegasus W664 5-thread coverstitch machine for producing various types of garments and other textile products,
- Mayer RPS-L-400 fusing machine for fusing larger areas of cut garment components,
- Veit 2332 Varioset ironing tables for professional pressing,
- fabric spreading and cutting table,
- full-size tailoring dummies for evaluating garment construction, fit, and design, as well as for draping and three-dimensional garment development directly on the body form,
- half-scale tailoring dummies for developing design details and silhouettes during the model development stage.
The equipment supports the entire prototyping process – from design, pattern construction, and cutting, through textile material processing, to garment assembly and final technological finishing.
