The laboratory focuses on clothing design, textiles and fashion accessories, the design of garment patterns in 2D and 3D environments, and the production of prototypes of clothing and other textile products. In the study process, it promotes the use of advanced digital technologies for the development of clothing and other textile forms through virtual prototyping and simulations of the fit of functional clothing to 3D body models. It places particular emphasis on sustainable design approaches, waste reduction, the use of recycled materials and the development of products designed for dismantling and reuse.
The laboratory’s research activities focus on experimental and sustainable design, as well as the research and development of advanced clothing systems that combine functionality, aesthetics and sustainability. One important research direction is the digitisation of clothing cultural heritage with the aim of preserving it and making it accessible in a virtual environment. In its research, the laboratory uses modern digital tools, studies the properties of textile materials and clothing structures, and explores ways of connecting traditional knowledge with advanced fashion technologies in the development of innovative clothing solutions and methods for researching, interpreting and preserving clothing cultural heritage.
